About

Hi, My name is Josh Latham, I’m the creator of My Vegan Cookbook dot com. My goal with My Vegan Cookbook dot com is to have a collection of recipes that are isolated soy free, whole foods heavy, 100% vegan, free of hydrogenated oils and most importantly, taste amazing.

Tested, tested and then tested again

My recipes are tested, tested and then tested again. My biggest frustration when I began the conversion to vegan was the lack of successful recipes. I can’t tell you how many recipes I’ve made that simply didn’t work. I began to think people were just making recipes up off the top of their heads without even actually making them. Which leads me to the last most important thing, photographic evidence of the recipe. We eat with our eyes so a photo of each of my recipes is important. I will not publish a recipe if the end result looks like scraped road tar. My recipes make love to the camera and your lips.

My Story

My twin brother and I became Lacto-Ovo vegetarian at the early age of 12. It wasn’t until 2006 that I woke up to reality. What caused me to realize the error of my ways? I read The China Study. In The China Study, Colin T. Campbell spells out in scientifically tested detail why animal protein in any form causes cancer genes to express themselves. Besides cancer, a long list of other problems like heart disease. After reading the book I realized what a fool I’d been made of by misinformation. I wasn’t eating anything with a face but I was still eating animal protein. How could I have been so blind?

My journey to vegan actually began with me trying to lose weight. I had never struggled with a weight problem until I became depressed in 2001. I began to eat
my sorrows away. In 2004, at 200 pounds and 5′ 8″, I realized I had to do something about my ballooning weight. One morning I bent over to tie my shoes and couldn’t reach them. I started out reading Dr. Phil’s weight loss book, which gave me some very important tools to cope, tools that I still use
today. But I still never reached my goal weight and wasn’t feeling healthy. It was a google search for a book on vitamins that lead me to The China Study, by
chance.

Another important discovery was the news I learned about isolated soy protein. I had been consuming more and more prepackaged veggie burgers over the
years, having no idea that it was sending my insulin-like growth factor 1 levels through the roof. In 2007 with the conversion to vegan and my awareness of the
dangers of isolated soy protein the weight melted off. I’m now a healthy and trim 139 pounds and full of energy.

Behind the site

Besides me, my twin brother Jess will be equally responsible for making My Vegan Cookbook what it is. Although he chooses to be a silent partner. He’s
responsible for the cute little graphics you will find on my site. And he also helps with the recipes.
