Your blog is my new favorite. I made the lentil loaf right after it was posted because with the exception of one thing, I had everything I needed to make it. I love that the ingredients you use are easily found, fairly inexpensive and just awesome. Thank you for this blog. I <3 you (in the you’re an amazing cook kinda way)

I made the faux fish and it was pretty good, not very fishy though. Maybe we could add some sea weed or something to give it a more fishy taste. The texture was good though. The tarter sauce was awesome too, but I added a little lemon juice and a tad of mustard to give it a little more kick.

Paige, did you use the old bay seasoning? What kind of seaweed would you use?

I don’t know, but do you think sea weed tastes fishy? It seems like it would have an oceany flavor, sort of like sea salt does. Yes, I used the old bay seasoning. Don’t fret, the fish was good. I’ve read that sea weed is very good for you, detoxifying to the body, etc. I might try to get some, just to see how it tastes anyway.

I made these tonight and liked it a lot. My store didn’t have Old Bay, so I found a seasoning mix recipe on line and used that, and I also added some dulse seasoning. I didn’t think they tasted super-fishy, but that’s fine by me. I liked the texture of all the different ingredients, the patties held together well, and most of the breading actually held on, which is a feat for me. Thank you for a great recipe!

(btw, I couldn’t login with my normal wordpress username, don’t know if there’s something weird going on there.)

These patties were a nice change from the typical “veg meat” replacement. The held together and were quite tasty. Served them up with some spicy tartar sauce….delicious!
I agree that they were not too “fishy” tasting, Paige mentioned adding some seaweed and maybe some kelp powder would do the trick?

This was the first recipe of yours that I’ve tried — and I’m so excited! These were delicious, and I completely took my first bite prepared to hate them. Regarding the “fishy” debate: I thought these were perfect just as they are. Admittedly, I never liked fish that tasted very “fishy”, so maybe I’m biased.

    Thanks for posting this!

I made these for lunch the other day and my DGD and I enjoyed them. I made a few substitutions and it still seemed to work. For dinner that night I served them with mashed potatoes and gravy. It was a hit! Thanks!

You’re blog is my new go to website for delicious recipes :) I made both the faux fish and tarter sauce and served them on rolls with fresh lettuce. They were sooo good. The texture is amazing, chewy, and crispy on the outside. Everything I’ve tried from this website has been delicious. Thanks for posting!!

This looks *awesome* as do many of the other recipes on your site. To address the fishy question, I use Dulse flakes to add that seafoody flavor. Very good and tasty as well.

If you are asking about seaweed, Nori is easy to come buy in sheets and if you are lucky powder. if sheets is all you can find just crumple them up in processor or coffee grinder. How much to use is going to be the tough one. This is the same dark green sheets used for Sushi. I would try like maybe a table spoon or 2.

What do you use for the egg replacer?

I use Bob’s Red Mill Egg Replacer, follow the directions on the back.
