Could these be made with any nut butter successfully? I have a bit of an adversion to peanuts which developed in the last few years. Would love to make my own bars though since I miss them and they're all peanut related commercially.

I made a nut free version. If anyone is intrested in vewing it please visit my blog.
My son can't take any nut products to school. Sadly I wish he could, nuts are a very important part of our diet.

Made these twice now and had to tell you how yummy they really are! Took them camping and they were devoured on the trail and at the site. I used oat flour instead of the rice and almond flours and added some chocolate, coconut and almonds on top. Pic and details here:

I just made these! What can I say? I don't think I have ever tasted anything better then these. I was a bit worried about the rice flour taste. I have never been a huge fan of it, but you don't even know it is there. I am going to try and tweek it so I can send it to my son's nut free school. If I find anything that works I will let you know.
Oh, there is but 1 thing wrong with this recipe. It doesn't make a big enough batch to last an afternoon. With my kids, husband(and me) it will be gone before I know it. But it takes no time at all to make, so that is good.
Thanx again!

I am going to ahve to try these a.s.a.p.!
I refuse to buy packaged granola bars for my kids but my son is always begging for them since kids at school are eating them.
I have tried many home made kinds of bars but they are always so packed with sugar.
Sadly, I can't send nuts to school. Any suggestions on replacing the Almond?
I will use sunflower seed butter in place of the peanut butter, the kids really like it.

I made these again and they turned out well. I weighed the peanut butter and added a little more molasses and maple syrup to help them stick. Thank you for your help and posting the recipe.

I just found your site and I could spend my whole morning reading! I really appreciate the soy-free recipes. I can tolerate a bit of soy sauce but otherwise I really dislike soy. I went vegan a little over a year ago and so far 2 out of 4 of my kids have joined me. They love coming to the table for a meal because every meal is a new adventure! We all agree we never knew food could be so much fun!

I'm looking for something for lunch and I can't make up my mind what to make! My kids will be excited I found some new recipes. :)
