Sounds good, though not exactly “whole foods heavy”… I’m still looking for not-so-terrible-for-you frostings (aside from chocolate ganache). I guess I’ll have to figure it out myself!

Maija, I’m not even sure it’s possible to make a frosting that doesn’t use confectioners sugar. If you find one post it here.

If your only concern is eating a plant based diet, than the fact that you might by chance have eaten sugar that is filtered using bone char isn’t a concern.

If you are concerned about the sugar, why stop there? Did you also know that organic vegetables are grown using animal byproducts? Poop for fertilizer. … Is there anything that’s really 100 percent vegan? Best to strive for 99 percent tehe

While we are not vegan, I try to make as many things as I can with vegan recipes. They just taste so great!!! This frosting and the white cake are by far the best vegan desserts I have ever tried. An added bonus to making vegan cakes is my young daughters can lick the beaters/spoons with no worries of raw eggs. Love this site. Keep up the awesome work! Thank you!

Should I replace the almond extract with vanilla? I know that it will probably change the flavor a bit, but my daughter is allergic to nuts, don’t want to take any risks. Any other suggestions? Thanks for the great recipe.
