Sweet, creamy and delicious vegan ice cream! This recipe will fool even the most vegan phobic guests. What I figured out after much trial and error was that if the soy milk was cooked it gave the ice cream a funny taste. That is why it isn’t boiled. GO TO RECIPE>

I’m with you on the photo thoughts. Cookie twirls = bacon. Plate = unnecessary. Would have been better with just the goblet, ice cream, and almonds. That said, the ice cream looks *exactly* like “real” (cow-juice) ice cream. Good job fooling them!

Just discovered your blog – some great stuff here!

Since you asked… the cookie curl is a bit distracting. I love the yellow plate against the blue, and it picks up the yellow of the almond slivers quite nicely!

We made this and it was really good. I did however substitute the cornstarch with equal amounts of flour and it turned out great. I made it again with the cornstarch and have to say I liked the all flour way better. But this recipe is awesome, it tastes like Dairy Queen soft serve for real!!!

Hmmm. I think that the photo could be of the ice cream in a paper cup balanced on a dog’s nose with a piles of dirty clothes in the background and it would still make me want to eat that ice cream. It looks delicious!!! I will definitely try it!

Um… this might be the most authentic looking vegan ice cream I have ever seen. Most look too heavy on the ice crystals… just looks fabulous. No more simply blending a frozen ‘nana and adding coco powder! I’m trying this tonight. It’s too hot to cook.

I, too, agree with you on the photo. It would have been better without the bacon-esque cookies and without the plate. Simpler is usually better*. But, the beautiful ice cream is tantalizing. I could just about taste it by looking at it. That part worked very well.

great recipe. i recommend substituting arrowroot power for the cornstarch as arrowroot prevents ice crystals from forming when freezing.

Hi Josh,

I must be honest, I don’t love the picture. The ice cream looks delicious, but the background is bland and the almonds look strange on top. Maybe a new picture with a more exciting background may be in order. I think you are right and brother is not. There is some definite “sizzle” missing from this picture although I can’t quite pinpoint what it is. Also…where’s the spoon???

I really shouldn’t judge, but you asked for it : ) I just started my own blog and I don’t have ANY pictures yet, so atleast you can say you have some!!!

actually, if you can, try some natural light, it looks a little tungston to me, but the actual ice cream looks devine! I think a natural setting too, would look more realistic, somehow the blue doesn’t do the choc justice…can’t wait to try the recipe, thanks!
